23,
October, basically a year ago. Um,
yeah, about 11 months ago.
So what's happened since then is, um, I moved around, um, quite a bit and I haven't been playing as much golf as I did last year and not nearly focused, um, on golf.
And then, um,
More recently, I basically changed my goal entirely from last year it was, you know, trying to break 80.
I basically stopped doing that and I've been focused heavily on trying to fix my golf swing.
I'm still working with, um,
with Alex, um,
oh boy, what's the last name?
I'm still working with Alex Shattuck, um, And I've been, we've been working pretty aggressively for the past year.
And, uh, yeah, I guess as far as, as far as, like, actual playing, um, you can see it, most of them been shooting in the 90s, um, this year.
Um, I can just go briefly through my scores.
But a lot of that's just not playing frequently enough. Um, and, and it had some rounds in the 80s, I guess.
to fix my golf swing.
I feel I've put too much effort already into golf to have a pretty significantly flawed swing
i'd say most of this year so five months i've just been um
and i'm not quite there yet um it's been a slow progress so i'm being honest so So with Alex, uh, you know, I'll post something and he'll tell me, you know,
something to fix it. And it's, it's been a very slow like internalization of what he's saying and to where I really understand what's going on.
But at this point, we've like kind of broken down the majority of the swing. Um, a lot of it was focused on the back swing for a long time.
I guess I wasn't doing the right thing. And, um, yeah, we can actually, I'm going to go through my swing progression.
So this is starting in
It's going to be kind of hard to see, but because I'm actually swimming pretty fast here.
But you can see it, I mean, the back swing is,
honestly, the back swing is pretty damn good. I don't know what the actually took so long, or like the back swing was, um, the takeaway.
Oh, I mean, I definitely fired the hips open and this is all arms from here on it.
Um, and then the actual swing, down swing, all sorts of problems. I still have those problems today, but that's, that's early extension.
Um, here's, you know, me working on a drill that Alex had me doing to try and get my hands in front.
We've done a lot of drills. Um, this is a common one to try and get the sequencing right.
This is sequencing. So it's like, once you get the back swing pretty good. So at this point where he basically had already told me like, okay, the back swing's good enough,
which yeah, it looks pretty on plane, right?
I'm not getting much depth there, but then we're working on sequencing, which is like, you know, making sure my hands come down first.
Um,
but,
yeah,
and you can see this is from May, um,
see what we got here by
the way this is in hawaii because i was living there for most of this year um this is me working on us on getting more of a sway i think at some point alex told me i should do that to be honest he's kind of like you know i do feel at times
he's like he's like changed what he's wanted me to work on seemingly like without making forward progress like it's like parallel progress it's like okay yes there's another thing over here to do but so this is why you know i'm really coming forward in
my swing but i see so many problems like from from this position into here look how much the lag is gone in my swing rate like it's way too much
um this is more okay so this was an interesting swing actually maybe i'm not sure if you can really spot it but maybe you can um what's happening here is i'm not using my lower body at all and basically you know this is the swing thought is like
just swinging up my arms and interestingly enough, well, my back swing's kind of messed up here because I'm, I'm ripping it open, but, um,
interestingly enough for my swing as an early extender, this actually helped me quite a bit.
I'm not early extending nearly as badly there, my chicken wings on is bad there, so it actually looks better.
Um, so this is surprising, or like,
Yeah, it feels way different too. It's most surprising to me and, and I don't know, it just looks, it feels different, but I'm not actually doing anything correct with my lower body, because I'm not doing anything of the lower body there.
It's just all arms. All right, so where are we at currently? This is the current swing, i guess this is like kind of not technically my swing because i'm using i mean this is like kind of a drill still like i haven't fully incorporated this to my
normal swing but you can see
some really good stuff happening currently um essentially i'm pumping down and holding the which which in turn holds the angles much longer and then when i get to you know here i'm just turning with my body just a simple turn of my body um the arms
are very passive very passive and that's why you see the mechanics looking a lot better um there's no chicken wing there's um early extension there's some extension or like maybe slightly early but it's not to
chatteling of the shaft. The other thing that's causing chatteling the shaft is making sure I have enough depth, which I do here.
Basically, my trail arm is, should be in the same vertical line as my butt. It's like, you know, they were all pressed up against the wall.
That's exactly what you see here. Oh, I can draw, huh?
But yeah, just sick. Okay, so
How do I undo?
Okay, I guess it just disappears. Well, I didn't know I could do that. Okay, so yeah, you want my arms like in line with my butt or or further out is fine, I think.
Or this is probably too much depth, honestly, if it's not.
Um, this is probably too much depth but that helps to shallow the shaft as well when bringing it um starting to bring it down so
okay basically getting my back swinging take away correct and they're now really good like this is quite good um on the back swinging take away let's turn off the drawing okay um so here's a drill that has helps, you can just let you watch it.
teaching you to do with your
hand hip turn your hip extension and push through the golf ball and
extend and be passive i hope this helps so this was really helpful for my like mental reframing of how the golf swing works um Like, I just did this a whole bunch and you can, when you're doing the drill, you can feel how if you're swinging your
arms or your arms and hands are moving, you actually get less force. And this was a comment Alex had made as well where he told me, um, you know, there seems to be some confusion about where I internally think the speed and a golf swing comes from.
It doesn't come from the hands moving super fast. It comes from the body turning, um, fast and hands doing essentially nothing.
They're just like, it's like the end of the whip. It doesn't actually do anything relative to the beginning of the lip.
The end of the lip is the body.
So yeah, basically in spamming that drill and then secondarily is we've been doing a lot of this drill.
So it's, it's, it's, um, a pump down, pump down to, um, halfway point and then, um,
just, which is all arms, and then, and then just turn my body where my arms are doing nothing.
And the combination of two has really showed me like how, how, it's just like changed the internal understanding of like how to hit the ball because normally when i try to hit the ball i'm trying to hit it like with my hands essentially this has
helped me to understand that the
that i'm actually trying to hit it with my body my body turning is the thing that my body turning
is how i swing the club it's not the hands it's not my hands like it's like i'm essentially yeah i'm hitting it with my body it feels it sounds weird to say because it's you're hitting it with your body like your body's moving your hands are doing
nothing they're just passively uh your your body's flinging your hands um it's not your hands in the control there of of or their hands are not not doing anything so yeah this is where i'm at um Basically, at the, uh,
in early extension and there's no chicken wing you see afterwards how the reason there's no chicken wing is because instead of my arms going in my normal swing my arms fling across my body i do it here you can see it uh i guess i don't do it as my
yeah no i definitely still do it my arms are flinging across my body and especially this this swing because i'm literally not even moving my lower body at all like i'm barely not turning um my normal swing my arms are doing so much they're flinging
across my body they'll get way way ahead of my body turn that's why you get the chicken wing it's way ahead of my body turn my my body's like if if if my hands were always in front of my chest then you'd never get this angle that they're currently
at And in this swing here, they're essentially always in front of my hands stay in front of my chest the whole time.
They're not far out in front of my, uh, or they're not too far ahead.
Maybe a little far head, but it's not that far.
And
That's why it looks more normal.
Anyway, so yeah, I wanted to give an update because it's been a while, but that is pretty much what's going on with me.
I'm currently in Europe, actually, um, basically doing the nomad thing.
um so trying so this year my goal is to like really hone this swing in and get this get this to become my swing and next year's going to be once i got this swing down um i'll stop going stop changing my swing so much it's been part of the reason
i can't get go low right now is because i'm changing my swing so much that like every time every other time i go to the recourse like my swing is different like dramatically or it feels different at least um once i've my goal is for this year to
like really basically have this swing be my normal full swing once i have that down next year's going to be a year to go low again is how i'm viewing it i don't know um this is my approach um but we'll see how it goes but yeah i'm excited
